Happy New Year!

Round 1 Win

With only a short break between racing seasons, Green Motorsports finds themselves back at it again. There is something almost sacrilegious about setting your alarm clock on New Years Day but 6 am it is.
Temperatures when we arrived
at the track were 32 degrees and dense fog. It didn’t take long for the fog to burn off but it took quite a while for the temps to rise. At least this year we remembered to bring the heater to put on the motor of the race car. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that we had a nice warm heater and it was on the racecar and not me but I am getting used to these sacrifices for the love of racing.
It took the raceway staff more time than usual to get the track prepared with all of the damp conditions due to the fog. First round of eliminations didn’t even start until 11 am…see we could have slept in! Or maybe it was because the other 300 racers there that day forgot their heaters to start their motors. But we were ready and waiting..and waiting.
Cory decided to start the motor again and get it warmed back up before 1st round and found a leaking fuel line. A quick build of a new line and we were back in business.
First round of qualifying we ran a 9.07 not bad for a cold start. Second round
we ran a 9.05 and getting better.
First round of eliminations Randy had a great reaction time of .009 and was the #1 qualifier and also ran a 9.02. He got the win light anyway because his opponent turned on the red light. We had lunch and waited for the next round.
Round 2 of eliminations found us once again paired with a 11.77 car. Since we were dialing Randy in at a 9.0 that’s almost a 3 second wait to get the green. Well Randy didn’t wait quite long enough and turned on the red light as he left the line. To bad because he actually ran a 9.0 on a 9.0 dial in. Oh well there’s always next time!
